H. Maria Wright Hall was the first building on Taylor University’s campus in Upland, Indiana. It housed a library, chemistry lab, small auditorium, classrooms, and offices. Its bell tower/steeple reached nearly six stories into the air – the steeple, as well as a smaller coned roof on the west side of the structure, were imortalized in Taylor’s beloved alma mater, “Up Beyond the Village Border.” Wright Hall was destroyed by a fire in January 1960. #TaylorU
